Friday on Mike's Show -"Global Warming is a Hoax"
Reagan: Back in Washington, DC, Senators worry that an upcoming Global Warming treaty will economically damage the United States. They voted 95-0....folks, there are liberal Democrats in the Senate of the United States - voted 95-0 to urge Clinton not to sign it.
That's right! Senators in debate on the non-binding resolution claimed that 130 developing nations, including China, including Vietnam, including Mexico and South Korea, will now be deciding the limits of US air pollution by the pact being negotiated in Japan. That will take place this December.
"I do not think the Senate should support required only half of the world, in other words, the developed countries, to endure economic burden of reducing emissions while the developing countries are free to pollute the atmosphere and, in so doing, siphon off American industries."
That was said by the constitutionalist in the Senate, Roberta Byrd of West Virginia. Chuck Hagel, co-author of the resolution said, "The United States and other industrialized nations are doing the most to reduce greenhouse gas emissions thought to be responsible for global warming."
President Clinton yesterday launched a campaign to "educate America about global warming and to build support for the steps needed to avert major disruptions that are needed to avert major disruptions in the earth's climate."
I don't know where he gets his information - it must be Al Gore. He said, "It is no longer a threat but a fact that global warming is for real."
Now, he was flanked by the Vice-President of the United States, Al Gore, and about a half dozen of "experts" on climate change, and he took on the task of selling the public on the urgency of the problem that, in many minds, looms far into the future, if, in fact it exists at all.
"Now, we see the train coming," the President said, "but most ordinary Americans in their daily lives can't hear the whistle blow."
Let me say this in the President's voice "Now, we see the train coming, but most ordinary American in their daily lives can't hear the whistle blow. But, I'm here. I'm here to fix it for all of you. I'm going to take care of you. I'm here to fix the earth. I'm going to fix it the best that I know how.
"But, first, I've got to scare you. I've got to scare you just like I did last year when I told the old people that the Republicans were going to take away their Medical care and Social Security. Remember, it was me that did that.
"And now, me, and my party, are going to get you to sign on almost the same program that scared you last year. We are going to scare you again. This time we are going to scare you about ozone. We are going to scare you about global warming.
"Now America, you see the train coming, but, well, you just don't hear the whistle blowing."
He went on to talk about the "widespread ecological disasters" including killer heat waves, severe floods, an increase in infectious diseases, rising seal levels which will swamp thousands of islands off the coast of Florida and Louisiana. He gave that speech a couple of weeks ago at the United Nations.
He's figuring out a way to reach into your pocket and take more of those little greenies.
But the fact is that scientists are concerned that the US is rushing headlong into a signing of a so-called global warming treaty. That treaty will be costly to implement and has not yet been justified scientifically.
That's right. It has not yet been justified scientifically. The treaty will require drastic and sudden cuts in energy use that would be legally binding on the United States and other developed nations. And, of course, 130 nations will be exempted!
Hundreds of billions of dollars in US industry would have to be spent annually keep emissions at 1990 levels, which will increase the cost of our products and make them less competitive abroad.
It has been estimated that the treaty would drastically increase US unemployment and reduce our gross domestic product 3.3%. It would increase gasoline prices by 50%.
Then they say there are no guarantees that the treaty will end global warming! The theory is "far from proven."
And, when the president cites 2500 scientists that have endorsed the program, ..actually 2100 signed it and must of them were social scientists. Most were not even conversant with the intricacies of atmospheric science. Yet, those atmospheric scientists who opposed the treaty, based on their knowledge, were including with the group who signed it - much to their chagrin!
When using data of the last 100 years - the data no way supports the notion of global warming. Satellite data has shown no global warming whatsoever in the past twenty years. Most Climatologists believe that global warming is a hoax.
